CCXCIII ~> Vernal Vicissitudes*

(1)
No snow needing thawing, you sing for spring;
To play preludes for the flirts of summer,
With reckless reckoning, court suffering
Wages of sins accrued the consumer
Of dreams that never bother the dreamer:
Time stands still within its own dominion;
Commands skill frowning froward opinion!
(2)
Deep within, something urges you move on
Regardless of some token sacrifice.
Keeping the cost within bounds of reason
When all or nothing neither pays the price
Nor tease the promise of a compromise:
Waxing nostalgic of purloined balance,
Suspended in vernal somnambulance!
